Cowgirl Golf to open the season

STILL WATER – Oklahoma State’s No. 3 Women’s Golf will open its fall portion of the 2021-22 program on Monday with the Sam Golden Invitational at the Wildhorse Golf Club in Denton, TX. The 54-hole event will feature 15 teams over the par 72 of 6,288 yards.

This year’s playing field includes Big 12 rivals Oklahoma, Texas Tech, TCU and K-State, in addition to Texas A&M, Houston, Mississippi State, Missouri, Purdue, Tulsa, Tulane, Charlotte, UTSA and North Texas.

“It’s exciting to come back to competition after about three months”, head coach Greg robertson noted. “We’re excited. We’ve pretty much everyone back and can’t wait to start over. Especially after how we finished last year.”

The Cowgirl roster at Denton will feature two returning All-American Honorable Mention from last season’s squad at Isabelle Fierro and Rina Tatematsu. The duo will be joined by Kent State transfer Caley mcginty, two-time All-American and 2021 Mid-America Conference Golfer of the Year.

Alongside the trio of All-Americans will be Maddison Hinson-Tolchard, who was notably replaced in the OSU roster after two rounds at NCAA Stanford Regional and helped the Oranges and Blacks progress with stable rounds of 74 and 71.

native of Paris Clemence martin will complement Oklahoma state programming. Martin won the 2019 French Women’s Amateur Championship and went on to represent her country at the European Women’s Team Championship in Slovakia.

Lianna bailey will join the group and compete as an individual. His 2020-21 score average of 72.68 (0.92 au par) was the eighth-best in program history. She begins her senior season with 29 career rounds of par or better, which ranks 12e in the program history.

“We’re going to approach it like any other tournament,” Robertson continued. “It’s about being prepared. Getting in with the right attitude and just letting them play golf. It will be good for us just to see where we are to start the season. I don’t think there is. more important to this tournament than any other. But again, with such a strong team, it gives us the opportunity to see where we are with things. “

The Cowgirls have just had one of the best seasons in school history, which included the 24e conference title and his maiden trip to the NCAA Championship title game. OSU has won the Big 12 Player, Freshman and Coach of the Year awards and placed three Cowgirls on the All-America lists.
