Driver of stolen vehicle crashes into Evansville Country Club golf course


The Evansville Police Department pursued the driver of a stolen vehicle on Saturday morning, which ended up crashing into the Evansville Country Club golf course.

The call for the stolen vehicle arrived at around 8:50 a.m.

An officer spotted the suspect, Devin Morton, 29, and the vehicle and stood behind it. Morton then turned on Hardin Drive.

According to a sergeant. with Evansville Central Dispatch, the officer called a traffic stop and waited for reinforcements.

That’s when the Morton slipped into a garage door of a house 100 block from Hartin Drive, right next to the golf course, causing damage to the house.

Morton then got out of the vehicle and ran along the golf course near Pigeon Creek.

K9s and officers then pursued him, eventually arresting the driver.

He has been arrested on multiple counts and is in Vanderburgh County Jail without bail.
