EKU Women’s Golf Set will host the 27th Colonel Classic Monday and Tuesday

Eastern has won four of the last six Colonel Classics.

RICHMOND, Ky. –

The Eastern Kentucky University Women’s Golf Team will host the 2021 Colonel Classic Monday and Tuesday at the University Club in Arlington.

The 54-hole event begins with a shotgun tee off at 8:30 am on Monday. The 14 teams will play two rounds on Monday before closing with the final round on Tuesday at 9 a.m. The live score will be available at www.GolfStat.com.

The University Club course will be par 72 and play for 5,910 yards.

The participating teams are Akron, Ball State, Belmont, Butler, Cincinnati, Cleveland State, Dayton, Eastern Kentucky, Northern Illinois, Ohio, Purdue Fort Wayne, Tennessee Tech, Western Michigan and Wisconsin-Green Bay.

Eastern has won four of the last six Colonel Classics. In 2019, the last time the event was played, the Colonels beat Northern Illinois by 13 strokes to claim the title.

In 2016, the Colonels beat second place Ball State by 10 shots. In 2015, Eastern claimed a four-stroke victory over Ohio. The Colonels first won the event in 2014, edging Morehead State by six strokes.

Former colonel Elsa Moberly won individual medalist honors at the 2019 Colonel Classic.

In three events this season, EKU finished first, third and 10th. Ragnhildur Kristinsdottir leads the team and the Ohio Valley Conference, averaging 73.44 strokes. Newcomer Diana mcdonald is second on the team with an average of 75.78 strokes.

The Eastern starting five this weekend will also include Bailey hubbard, Vilma Efraimsson and Elisa Orduna Shackleton.
