Hoffmanns acquires Old Corkscrew Golf Club in Estero
The Hoffmann family of companies have added a third golf course to their portfolio, Old Corkscrew Golf Club in Estero. Awarded “Best Course You Can Play” by Golf Magazine, the Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course bills itself as “Nicklaus Nature Nirvana” and it offers nothing less.
The acquisition of Old Corkscrew comes just weeks after the acquisition of Old Collier Golf Club in Naples, and the announcement of the construction of a 12-hole championship golf course in Augusta, Missouri designed by Rees Jones where the Hoffmanns are investing $ 125 million to turn the location into a national wine destination. All three golf courses will be run by National Director of Golf Iain Mossman, former South Florida PGA Professional of the Year award recipient and former manager of clubs such as Piping Rock Golf Club, Pelican’s Nest, Gateway Golf Course, Bighorn Golf Club . , Old Collier Golf Club and recently Aurora International Golf Club in the Caribbean.
Carved out of the Florida woodland environment in Estero, Old Corkscrew Golf Club offers challenging golf in a secluded area surrounded by natural beauty. Named after the nearby meandering Corkscrew River, this lush, semi-tropical location is enhanced by established stands of cypress, pine, and swaths of rolling prairie grass.
“We are delighted that David Hoffmann is the new owner of Old Corkscrew Golf Club,” said Phil Anderson, majority owner of Old Corkscrew Golf Club. “David is used to buying great assets and taking them to the next level. We appreciate David’s commitment and investment in Southwest Florida and look forward to Old Corkscrew joining the Hoffman group of companies.
Built in 2007, players consistently call the award-winning Old Corkscrew one of, if not the most beautiful course in Florida. No matter where you play from, this course will test your courage. Water is featured in most tee shots, coming into play on almost every hole. You’ll also find plenty of sculpted bunkers guarding the large fairway landing areas, as well as plenty of sand traps on the greens that add to the challenge of hitting the greens. In some cases, you’ll be surprised to find a second water hazard lurking on the green.
“This is a great addition to our golf portfolio and a great course,” said David Hoffmann, founder of Hoffmann Family of Companies. “The rolling greens are known to be fast and challenging. It really is one of the best courses out there. ??
