Improve your Frolf game with a new disc golf set

If you like to throw a frisbee, you don’t want to spend a fortune on one set of golf clubs and greens fees, or just strolling in the sun, consider disc golf your new sport. Also known as “frolf”, all you need for this sport are three discs, a good pair of walking shoes, and an itch to spend time outdoors. For well under $ 100, you’ll be on your way to some fun in the sun.

What to consider

The equipment for this sport is called either a disc, a disc golf disc or a frolf disc – literally anything but a Frisbee. They come in different weights, sizes and colors. Most disc golf sets come in sets of three, which include a driver, midrange disc and putter. The drivers are long distance drives that have the ability to fly farther at higher speeds but with less control than other midrange drives. Mid-range discs are more rounded, fly slower and are easier to control. The putters are even more rounded, fly even slower and straighter, and are therefore easier to land in and around the basket for your final hole shot (s).

Although the technology of disc golf sets has improved slightly over the years, it hasn’t changed much. The concept remains the same: thinner and heavier flies are faster, rounded and lighter are easier to control. I recommend a three-disc set for beginners, which you can continue to build upon over time if you find you enjoy the sport as much as I do.

How we chose

As a frolfing enthusiast myself, I have released quite a few records over the years. I started playing disc golf in high school (over 20 years ago) and still enjoy the occasional round or two. It’s a fun sport to introduce to our young nieces and nephews and always fun to play when reuniting with old friends. And our favorite part is the price – all of the golf disc sets on this list are very economical, ranging from $ 12.99 to $ 99.99.

We’ve put together years of gaming experience, hours of online research, and user review surveys from online retailers to compile our list of suggestions for the best disc golf sets for beginners to advanced players.
