Mastodon Men’s Final Tuning Golf Set

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Purdue Fort Wayne men’s golf team will host another tournament before the Horizon League Championship later this month. The Mastodons will travel to The Jewell in Northern Kentucky in Batavia, Ohio on Sunday, April 10.

Kasey Lilly, tyler green, Hunter Mefford, Brett Seward and Burke Pitz will compete for the team score. Reece Compton, Luke Miller and Jadden Ousley will play as individuals.

Kasey Lilly holds all major records in Purdue Fort Wayne men’s golf history. He also has 10 top-10s, six top-5s and has won two tournaments: the Tom Tontimonia Invitational and the Benbow Invitational.

Golfer of the week

Kasey Lilly was named Horizon League Player of the Week on March 17 after finishing in the top 10 for the sixth time this season at the Sacred Heart Invitational.

I want to be the best
The Purdue Fort Wayne men’s golf team has the best four-player average in program history this season by a significant margin. The Mastodons are averaging 293.9 shots per round, surpassing the previous best of 2011-12 by almost five shots per round. The ‘Dons also have the best win/loss percentage in program history, beating 58.7% of their opponents this season.

The two best

Kasey Lilly (72.6) and tyler green (73.2) boasts two of the three best season averages in program history in the 2021-22 season. The top spot is also held by Lilly from last season.

Benbow Blessings
The Purdue Fort Wayne men’s team won the Benbow Invitational on March 8, earning an individual victory from Kasey Lilly as well. Lilly shot a 72-68-140, leading the team to a 293-282-575. It was the seventh individual trophy a Mastodon won in program history and the Mastodons’ fourth team championship.

On a roll! The Honor Roll!
Seven male Mastodon golfers have also been named to the Horizon League Academic Honor Roll: Reece Compton, Jacob Deakyne, Kasey Lilly, Hunter Mefford, Luke Miller, Jadden Ousley and Burke Pitz.

Last outing
The Mastodons took seventh place in the 12-team field at the Butler Spring Invitational on March 29. Kasey Lilly shot a 71 on day two to move up 21 spots in the standings.

The next time
Purdue Fort Wayne will battle for the Horizon League Championship April 24-26 in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida.
