Men’s golf set for playing at the Trinity Forest Invitational Monday
DALLAS – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros Men’s Golf Team is back on the course this week for the Trinity Forest Invitational, hosted by SMU, starting Monday at Trinity Forest Golf Club.
The 54-hole event will consist of 36 holes on Monday and the final 18 holes on Tuesday.
Trinity Forest Golf Club plays 7,330 yards and is a par 71.
There will be a 13 team field with: Host SMU, Abilene Christian, Kansas City, Little Rock, Louisiana Tech, Middle Tennessee State, North Texas, Rice, Sam Houston, UNLV, UT Arlington, UTRGV and UTSA.
The UTRGV finished in 13e at the Lone Star Invitational to open the season with a total of 942.
Leonardo Novella led the way with a 13e place after posting a score of 223 in three rounds with rounds of 78, 68 and 77.
Juan Luis de Bethencourt Duque finished in 60e with a score of 237 in three rounds with rounds of 80, 82 and 75.
Rhaasrikanesh Kanavathi finished in 65e with a total of 242 in three rounds after posting rounds of 78, 80 and 84.
Tennoshin Ogawa tied for 69e with a score of 245 in three rounds after completing rounds of 82, 83 and 80 while Taj Sutherland tied for 71st with a three-round score of 246 with rounds of 81, 85 and 80.
Last time at the Trinity Forest Invitational
The UTRGV did not participate in last season’s Trinity Forest Invitational.
SMU won the tag team title with a three-round score of 835 with rounds of 284, 280 and 271. UTSA was second with a three-round score of 862 while Little Rock was third with a three-round score. from 869.
Anton Albers of Little Rock won the individual title with a total of 206 in three rounds with rounds of 71, 71 and 64.
UTRGV will be back in action on October 11 when they play Bentwater Intercollegiate, hosted by Sam Houston, at Bentwater Country Club.
