Men’s golf set for the start at Bentwater Intercollegiate Monday
MONTGOMERY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros Men’s Golf Team is set to play at the Bentwater Intercollegiate, hosted by Sam Houston, starting Monday at the Bentwater Country Club.
The 54-hole event will feature 18 holes each day until Wednesday.
The Bentwater Country Club plays 6,788 yards and is a par 71.
There will be a 13-team field with: host Sam Houston, Texas State, Florida Atlantic, UTSA, South Alabama, Rice, Houston Baptist, South Dakota State, Nicholls, Prairie View A&M, Midland Community College, Houston and UTRGV.
UTRGV completed in 14e at the Trinity Forest Invitational after posting a total of 915 in three rounds after rounds of 295, 311 and 309.
First-year student Lars van der Vight paved the way for UTRGV as he finished tied for 50e with a total of 223 in three rounds with rounds of 70, 75 and 78.
First-year student Juan Luis de Bethencourt Duque tied for 63rd with a score of 228 in three rounds after posting rounds of 75, 79 and 74.
Second year Leonardo Novella tied for 67e with a three-round total of 229 after patent rounds of 75, 81 and 73.
Second year Sebastien lundberg posted a total of 235 in three rounds to tie 72sd after posting rounds of 75, 76 and 84.
Second year Rhaasrikanesh Kanavathi completed in 76e with a three-round score of 246 with rounds of 80, 82 and 84.
Last time at Bentwater Intercollegiate
UTRGV finished fifth in the 2019 Bentwater Intercollegiate with a three-lap score of 886 after posting laps of 299, 291 and 296.
Alex summers was third with a score of 212 in three rounds with rounds of 68, 68 and 76. Henry Fisher finished tied for fifth with a score of 216 in three rounds after posting rounds of 70, 73 and 73.
Rhaasrikanesh Kanavathi tied for 35e with a three-round score of 229 after carding rounds of 80, 76 and 73. Tae Itthiratchai tied for 42sd with a score of 231 in three rounds with rounds of 81, 74 and 76.
Luca Portelli tied for 55e with a three-round score of 241 with rounds of 88, 79 and 74.
Sam Houston won the tag team title with a three-round score of 874 with laps of 295, 292 and 287. William Holcomb of Sam Houston won the individual title with a three-round score of 210 with laps of 70, 72 and 68.
UTRGV will be back in action on October 18 when it competes at the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate, hosted by the State of New Mexico, at the NMSU Golf Course to close the fall calendar.
