Men’s Golf Set for Trinity Forest Invitational in Dallas
The Ball State Men’s Golf Team will travel to Dallas later than usual this season.
This is the fourth year of SMU’s Trinity Forest Invitational, and the Cardinals have played in all three previous editions.
Typically a September tournament, this year’s event has been moved to spring with the fall calendar wiped out by the COVID-19 pandemic. The action includes 54 holes over three days starting Sunday at Trinity Forest, site of the AT&T Byron Nelson of the PGA Tour.
The course is familiar to four members of the Ball State lineup – Tyler Green, Joey ranieri, Jack Cunningham and Yianni Kostouros. All have participated in the event at least once before, and Cunningham and Kostouros have both participated twice. Ranieri finished in the top 25 last year.
Junior college transfer Sterling McIlravy will make his first appearance and debut in stroke play for the Cardinals who started last month with Earl Yestingsmeier Match Play.
Green went 3-0-0 for BSU in the match play event en route to MAC Golfer of the Week honors and entered the Trinity Forest Invitational in roster’s top spot.
SMU, the 14th-ranked team in the country, leads a field that also includes the No.18 from North Texas. The field also includes Abilene Christian, Florida Atlantic, Lamar, Little Rock, Louisville, Kansas City, Rice, TCU, Sam Houston, UT Arlington and UTSA.
.@TylerGreen11's road hasn't always been easy. But this guy has persevered through injuries and is playing the best golf of his career.
