Men’s golf set to participate in the Bucknell Invitational
The Youngstown State Men’s Golf Team will continue their fall program on Sunday when they begin playing in the Bucknell Invitational at the Bucknell Golf Club in Lewisburg, Pa.
The Penguins were just fifth on Tuesday at the Tom Tontimonia Invitational at Lakewood Country Club in Westlake, Ohio. YSU posted a total of 580 teams in two rounds, which tied for the third lowest 36-hole performance in program history. Senior Bryan Kordupel was tied for third with a 140 in two rounds (72-68) while Cole Christman was tied for seventh with a 142 (71-71).
The tournament grounds for the Bucknell Invitational include 11 other schools including Bucknell, Army, Canisius, Colgate, Holy Cross, Monmouth, Mount St. Mary’s, Niagara, Robert Morris, Saint Francis (Pa.) And Wagner. Colgate is the reigning champion following his victory in fall 2019. The event did not take place in 2020-21 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Teams will play 18 holes on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday as part of the three-day 54-hole event. The start times for the first round on Sunday will start at 8 am on No.1. The start times for the second and third rounds will start at 9 am on No.1 and 10. The course will run for approximately 6,224 yards and the par is 70. The live score will be available on Golfstat.com.
Head Coach Tony Joy has announced that YSU’s roster will include Kordupel, Christman, Ken Keller, Kevin Scherr and Zack Ford. In addition, Conner Stevens will compete as an individual.
Christman, Keller, Kordupel and Scherr attended each of YSU’s first three events this fall. Ford will make his second event of the season while Stevens will make his college debut.
