Millport Golf Club played a key role in the County Music Festival
MILLPORT Golf Club members hailed a successful summer after going through a tough start to the year.
Staff battled adverse conditions over the winter to get the greens back in good shape ahead of the peak season.
Committee members David Williamson told Cumbrae’s recent Community Council meeting that things are “looking up” with many bookings already secured for 2023.
He said: “As everyone knows the course has suffered over the winter and this year.
“Fortunately, a lot of attention has been paid to this and we now enjoy much better playing conditions.
“Visitors have been very positive and we are seeing a huge increase in future bookings.
“With this resolved, we look forward to the winter months and then what 2023 will bring.”
David says the Millport Country Music Festival has also been a big boost for the club, with its grounds being used for weekend camping.
He said: “The campsite we organized for the music festival was perfectly managed by both the green staff and our management.
“We had the campsite and glamping tents which were full, 14 campervans parked and also space for parking cars, which took the pressure off the town centre.”
