It was great to see the sun return, and the winds, while a little chilly for early morning golfers, were the Greenkeepers’ best friend, helping to dry out the course again.
The course is in great condition, perfect for this week’s men’s and women’s foursomes and the ladies’ open day on Friday.
This week’s featured sponsor is Dan’s Tree Service who provide us with their expertise for larger jobs that are beyond our expertise.
Many visitors joined us for Tuesday’s Stableford Medley – travelers from Shepparton, Yass, Junee (2), Freddo, Kempsey, Sawtell (2) and Coffs (3).
Local knowledge prevailed with Denise Paluch (15) winning the event with 37 points from Stuart Johnston (11) on 35 counting points from Graham Watson and Colin Habgood.
Other good scores from Colin Wormleatoin and Stephen Kimber with 34 points and the ball down to 32 points on the countdown.
NTP to Graham Montgomery (Sawtell) on the 5th, Jan Harris on the 7th, Colin Habgood on the 8th, Denise Paluch scored the Pizza This voucher on the 13th, Dennis Ashton recovered the ball from Stu on the 15th and Stephen Kimber on the 18th.
The women played their 27-hole Foursomes Championship on Wednesday with 30 players competing.
Defending champions Christine Clark and Adrienne Smith were elusive with a score of 130, runners-up were Henny Oldenhove and Denise Paluch 141.
The clear winners were Susan Barnett and Robyn Jones 108. Well done to all the women who entered – it’s such a fun game! Especially after.
Thursday’s event was a Medley Stableford with 68 players, tight scores in both divisions requiring countdowns to define the winners.
In Division 1 (0-19), Stuart Johnston (11) continued his fine form from Tuesday with 35 points to win from Nathaniel Beverley (10) on the countdown.
Division 2 (20 – 45) was won by Hans Jansen (24) with 35 points counting down from Scott Burley (22).
Other good scores from Peter Bush, Walter Bortoletto, Dirk Winwood, Peter Moxon, Garry Thurlow and Edward Beaton all on 34, and you needed 31 or better for the ball recap.
NTP is at Lee Fewings for Longest Put on 2, Ted Beaton on 5, Murray Ingram on 7, Robert Reid on 8, Stuart Johnston got the right ‘Pizza This’ on 13, William Mann got the ball from Stu on 15, and Drew Glasson on 18.
The women held a very successful open day on Friday, with over 100 players on the course enjoying a 4-man Ambrose.
The Gross event winners were Bonville’s Alison Barrow and Natalie Titcume teamed with Adrienne Smith and Christine Clarke with 65. Finalists with 71 were the Coffs Harbor team of Rebecca Goldsmith, Jodi Murdoch, Lyndsay Smith and Rebecca Gill .
The net winners were from Frederickton including Sue Webster, Sharon Worthing, Narelle McMillan and Lyn Thomas with 59.37.
Finalists with 59.87 from Club Taree were Cindy Googh, Debroah Creaighton, Jo-Ann Richardson and Margaret Wynter.
The Man’s Foursomes were contested on Saturday with our top field of over 30 pairs participating.
The Foursomes champions for 2022 are Gregory McCoy and Urpo Ylinen, scoring 79 over 18 holes.
The net winners are Steve Frost and Colin Wormleaton with 70 on the countdown from Paul Ryan and Walter Bortoletto. Other good scores from Edward Penrose and Geoffrey Poole and Chris Tinson and Peter Bush 72.
The ball comes down to 73.5 net.
