Raiders host Wright State Invitational at Heatherwoode Golf Club
DAYTON- Wright State’s golf team is ready for its final regular season action of the spring as the Raiders host the Wright State Invitational at Heatherwoode Golf Club in Springboro. Action begins Sunday at 8:30 a.m. with 36 holes before the final 18 holes on Monday.
Wright State won its third spring tag team title at Big Blue Intercollegiate last week and the Raiders have now won six tag team titles in 10 fall and spring tournaments. Tyler Goecke earned individual honors in Nashville and has now won three individual titles this spring, while he also earned his fourth Horizon League Golfer of the Week honor for his play.
Wright State will be joined by 12 other teams: Butler, Chicago State, Detroit Mercy, Eastern Illinois, Green Bay, IUPUI, Ohio, Robert Morris, St. Francis PA, Valpo, Xavier and Youngstown State.
The Wright State Invitational will be played at Heatherwoode Golf Club, with a par-71 course at 6,754 yards. The Raiders won the tag team title last season when the tournament returned after the spring 2020 season was canceled due to COVID-19, while the former Raider Austin Schoonmaker tied for first. Goecke, playing as an individual, finished tied for third at one under for last spring’s tournament.
