Rocky Knoll Golf Course in Orrington becomes owner

ORRINGTON, Maine (WABI) – The Rocky Knoll Golf Course in Orrington has changed ownership and the couple in charge have big plans for the club’s future.

Ellsworth’s Michael and Daisy Wight finalized their purchase of Rocky Knoll exactly one week ago on Thursday.

This is the latest venture from entrepreneur Wights, who already owns several other businesses in Hancock County.

They say their experience and vision for the club make them an ideal candidate.

“Years ago I played golf here and really liked the course,” said Michael Wight. “I called my wife and told her if it ever got sold I would like to have it. Then we were on vacation in Florida. Daisy is a real estate agent, so it came on her newsfeed. We called them, and as soon as we got home, we came over and made an offer.

“I feel like a lot of golfers want a place to go and relax after they’re done playing on the links,” said Daisy Wight. “And so if we have a place where people can come in and have pub food and maybe relax, sit outside on the deck and watch the golfers come in, I think that would be really fun, and I am really looking forward to this.

The Wights estimate it will take them about four years to get Rocky Knoll exactly where they want him to be.

Their main priorities for the coming season are updating the signage and improving the patio.

They hope that their children will also participate in the daily operations.
