Women’s Golf Set for River Landing Classic

WALLACE, North Carolina – The Marshall Women’s Golf Team is back in action March 7-8 at the River Landing Classic, hosted by UNC-Wilmington. Marshall is one of 14 teams participating in the tournament.

The three-round, two-day event will be played at the River Landing Golf Course, which is par-72, with a total distance of 6,026 yards. The tournament will begin on Monday, March 7 with a 9 a.m. start and will be played continuously for two rounds. The third and final round begins Tuesday at 9 a.m., with another tee shot.

Competing for Marshall is fifth-year senior Stormy Randazzo, the elderly Jackie Schmidt and Torren Kalaskey, and freshmen Katie Potter and Emily McLatchey. The Herd will start the day on holes 14-17.

The River Landing Classic is Marshall’s first action since Feb. 14-15, at the First Coast Classic in Jacksonville, Florida. This will be the fifth consecutive year the herd has competed in the River Landing Classic. Marshall earned a fifth-place finish on his first trip to Wallace, North Carolina on March 6, 2018. Randazzo, a freshman at the time, was tied for fourth to lead the team. She shot a career-high 3 under 69 in the first round.

Five of Marshall’s 13 opponents are ranked in GolfStat’s Top 100. Other programs competing at the River Landing Classic are host team UNC Wilmington, Boston University, (#82) Boston College, (#64) Coastal Carolina, East Carolina, Elon, (#97) James Madison, (#79) Kennesaw State, Richmond, USC Upstate, (#77) Charlotte, UNC Greensboro and William & Mary.
