Women’s Golf Set to Host NESCAC Fall Qualifier at Nonesuch River

Hadley, Mass. – For the first time in the history of the NESCAC Women’s Golf Championship, the Fall Qualifier will take place in the state of Maine. Bowdoin will host the 2021 NESCAC Women’s Golf Fall Qualifier at Nonesuch River Golf Club in Scarborough, Maine on Saturday October 9th and Sunday October 10th. The eight NESCAC institutions that sponsor women’s golf will participate in the two days of 36 holes. game event. Golfers will tee off at 9 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.

The four teams with the lowest score at the end of the qualification will advance to participate in the NESCAC Championship from Saturday, April 30 to Sunday, May 1, 2022, and the team that wins the qualification with the lowest score will host the Spring Championship. . . The four people with the lowest scores outside of the four qualifying teams during the qualifier are eligible to participate in the Spring Championship.


Bowdoin hosted the Polar Bear Shootout and the State of Maine Invitational on consecutive days to open the season. Second year Olivia Wirsching (Blue Bell, PA) led all Bowdoin golfers with a 78 and finished second in the Polar Bear Shootout while the team placed third (348). Junior Abbie Kaestle (Winnetka, Ill.) tied with Maddy Kwei of Bates over 16 holes and managed to pull ahead on the final two holes to post a 75 and earn medalist honors at the State of Maine Invitational, which Bowdoin won by eight strokes (322) . Kaestle also led the Polar Bears to the George Phinney Classic in Middlebury (T41, 89-84-173) and the Wesleyan Invitational (T10, 81-79-160). Bowdoin finished 10th (707) and fifth (672), respectively, in the events. Wirsching was Bowdoin’s best golfer at the Williams Golf Classic, carding an 83-and-82 (165) to help Bowdoin finish tied for fifth (351-334-685).
