Women’s golf set to start playing Mason Rudolph Championship

AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn’s women’s golf team is back in action this weekend for its second tournament of the 2022-23 season at the Mason Rudolph Championship at Vanderbilt Legends Club in Franklin, Tennessee. The three-day event will start Friday and run until Sunday.

The Tigers won’t arrive on the course as strangers, as the team have appeared in each of the last eight times the tournament has been held since 2013 and have finished in the top five the last three in a row.

Junior Auburn Anna Foster posted an individual top 10 finish in the event last season while a senior Megan Schofill followed a top 10 in 2019 with a top 20 last year.

“Anne [Foster]Elina [Sinz] and have played this golf course several times and we really like the layout. It suits us well,” Schofill said of the familiarity with the course advantage. “I think having good memories from this course will help all three of us this week.”
Auburn will be part of a very impressive field that includes seven of the top 50 teams in the country according to the latest Golfweek poll released Thursday.

“I think we learned a lot of valuable lessons last week at ANNIKA Intercollegiate. The first tournament of the season always seems to be the hardest because you figure out what works and what doesn’t on the course,” Schofill said. on the concentration of the team this weekend. “I think all five of us traveling are really talented, it’s just a matter of focusing on ourselves and playing our game to be successful.”

Tigers travel roster features change from last tournament, as true freshman Rachel Gourley was given the green light to make his college golf debut this weekend.

Auburn will be one of the first teams to play the first hole in the first round with players from Kentucky and Washington.
