Skyhawks again took fourth place in NE10 pre-championship coaching poll

EASTON, Mass. (October 8, 2021) – After securing the program’s best result at the Spring Championship, Stonehill College’s women’s golf program will once again appear in contention for the first title in the program’s fifth season of existence when it competes in the 2021 edition. Northeastern Conference-10 Women’s Golf Championship, hosted by Southern New Hampshire University, at the Beaver Meadow Golf Club, Concord, New Hampshire, Saturday and Sunday.

The NE10 Championship will consist of 36 holes played over two days on the 5,807 yard, par 72 at Beaver Meadow GC. Stonehill comes off the program’s best runner-up at the 2021 NE10 Spring Championship held at the Cold Spring Country Club in Belchertown, Mass., In April, but was again picked fourth in the NE10 pre-championship poll, by the six of the Head Coaches Conference.

Stonehill tallied 15 points in the poll, including a vote for first place, with two-time defending champion Franklin Pierce expected to win her fourth title overall with 25 points and the remaining five votes for first place. Adelphi University is second in the pre-championship poll with 17 points, followed by Assumption University (16) third, Stonehill, The College of Saint Rose (9) fifth and Le Moyne College (8) sixth.

Stonehill, under the direction of the sixth-year head coach Nick crovetti, will have four of the five players who contested for a second place in the 2021 NE10 championship held in the spring, in his roster this weekend, including juniors Julia dapron, who finished second in individual, and Emilie Kasé who were both members of the Spring NE10 Championship All-Star Team.

Senior captain Sloane Van Zanen, a second All-NE10 selection in 2019, just finished his fourth career top ten at the Stonehill 1886 tournament in Vermont earlier this week as a classmate Emma Beaulieu has twice finished in the top 15 of his career at the NE10 championships. First-year student Mollie Thomas expected to complete Skyhawks’ five-person roster and make his NE10 Championship debut after finishing 17the to 1886 when he started out at university.
