Women’s golf to open the season at Lady Paladin Invite

CONWAY, South Carolina – The Coastal Carolina University women’s golf team begins their quest for a second straight championship and a third Sun Belt Conference championship starting with their opener at the Lady Paladin Invitational. The event hosted by Furman University will take place September 24-26 at the Greenville Golf Club.

The course is a par-72 over a 6,234 yard course. The Invite will consist of 18 holes on each of the three days of competition.

Augusta, Daytona State, Florida Gulf Coast, Georgia Southern, James Madison, Memphis, North Florida, Stetson, Western Kentucky, Wofford and UNC Wilmington will join CCU and host Furman in the 13-team field.

The Chanticleers performed several times in the event with solid finishes. CCU has finished in the top 10 in each of the last four times it has played the Lady Paladin Invitational. In 2019 CCU finished ninth, in 2018 Chants finished second and also finished ninth in 2015 and 2014.

“It has been a very good first week of training,” said the head coach Katie quinney noted. “I saw a huge improvement in all the girls, and they worked extremely hard. I can’t wait to see how they can carry this improvement into the fall season. We have played in this event several times and had some success. I can say the team are excited to return to a competitive event and can’t wait to see how they start the season. “

Quinney set her lineup for the senior-led event Tiffany Arafi and Caitlin Evans-Brand. The reigning Sun Belt Conference individual champion Sophie carlsen will also be on the program, just like junior Jenjira Jinangkul, which missed last season. First-year student Sara sarrion will make his first appearance in a CCU uniform and another freshman, Isabelle Spinazze, will also see his first CCU action and play as an individual.
